In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash

In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash (1966, ISBN 0-385-02174-7) is a book of short stories by Jean Shepherd [1].

It was first published by Doubleday in New York in October 1966.

Many of the short stories in the book, including several set outside of the Christmas season, were later used as the basis for the 1983 movie A Christmas Story as well as the 1994 movie It Runs in the Family. The book was later reissued by Main Street Books in 1991 and was adapted into audio form by the recording agency AFB for the Talking Book Service of the NLS (Talking Book Number TB 01526).

The title is a play on the United States motto, "In God We Trust".
